Community Service
Published on September 6, 2011 By Frankief In Community

This is a community service note that I hope will be helpful for those who are struggling to make ends meet during these trying times. My sister in Virginia told me about this website and there are no qualifying conditions. Anyone can buy their food. They have host sites all over the USA and you can search by zipcode or state.  She found out about it through her church. The food is good and the prices quite reasonable for anyone who is interested.

Wow, and there is a place for getting food for me and my son only 14.2 miles from here!  Thanks Frankief!

Good on ya, Frankief.

Just as a follow up, I have purchased from them and the food is restuarant quality. I do not think you will be disappointed and having compared the prices locally, it is a really good deal depending on which bundle you purchase. I only have to drive 9 miles for my pick up and the closest grocery to us is a little over 8 miles so it makes sense to me!   I sincerely hope this is of a great service to many of you who visit here!

I clicked on the website. Unfortunately it looks like they may be having some of the same struggles as other businesses are in the current economy....

Yeah, yesterday it was fine, today they have out of business at least for the month of September.

We regret to inform you that Angel Food Ministries (AFM) will not be holding a food distribution for the month of September.

Full refunds are now being processed to those who have already placed orders for the September distribution.

Like the thousands of businesses in America that have endured one of the worst recessions in the past 100 years, we too have faced operational and financial challenges.  We have every intention to continue offering great food at great prices in the coming months and are considering ways to reorganize or restructure our Ministry.

We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause to the hundreds of thousands of customers who have come to rely on us every month, to our Host Sites and to the thousands of volunteers who join us in serving God by helping those in need.

Please check this website often for the latest information.  Thank you for your understanding and May God Bless.

Feel free to contact us at angelfood@angelfoodministries.com.

What a truly sad day for the folks who are struggling to feed their families. I truly will pray that they are able to pull the fat out of the fire and be back up and running very soon. I totally did not see this coming and it will be a severe blow to my family and many others. [e digicons]:')[/e]

Food banks all across the country are having difficulty meeting the needs of their communities right now. For example, our local food bank is serving 120% more people now than 2 years ago. We donated some food just today in fact and have donated surplus produce this summer from our fruit trees. I encourage those who can to donate to their local food banks, there are a lot of struggling families right now.

I too will pray for those families.  I am greatly sadden that I won't be able to get my food from them, which I have been doing for the past 2 - 2 1/2 years now.  I pray that this is only temporary and that they can begin the service once again.

Thank you for the update.
